- Work Arrangement : 100% onsite. They are firm on this.
- Work Authorization : The end client cannot support visa sponsorship; therefore, candidates must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). No EAD, H1, F1, OPT, etc.
- Core Skills : Data Stewardship, Data Quality, Master Data Management.
- Nice to have Skills : T-SQL, SSIS, Database Administration, Development Roles (.NET), System/Business Analyst roles.
DESCRIPTION
Our end client is seeking a Data Steward / Application Support Engineer to join their team and take ownership of ongoing data integrity, system reliability, and production support efforts across a suite of data-driven applications.
This role is ideal for someone with strong SQL Server experience who enjoys solving real-world data problems, investigating anomalies, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operation of business-critical systems. The ideal candidate combines production support discipline with an application developer's mindset-comfortable not just loading data, but understanding the why behind it, troubleshooting root causes, and working directly with business users to ensure everything works as expected.
While this person may assist in application development-particularly during a transition from .NET Framework to .NET Core-the long-term focus is on maintaining high data quality, supporting event-driven data updates (e.g., fund launches and mergers), and proactively identifying and resolving production issues.
SKILLS - REQUIRED:
- Data Quality Roles (Data Steward, Data Quality Analyst, Data Quality Specialist, Data Governance Analyst, Master Data Management, MDM, etc.)
- Data Quality Focus Areas (partial data, data format, missing data, duplicate records, consistency across systems, data matches, valid values, etc.)
- Data Quality Tools (SQL Server Data Quality Services, DQS, SQL Server Master Data Services, MDS, Informatica Data Quality, Talend Data Quality, Ataccama, Data Ladder, Data Match, Melissa Data, etc.)
- Data loading (Bulk Copy Program, BCP, BULK INSERT, OPENROWSET, OPENDATASOURCE)

- Database Performance Tuning (SQL Server Management Studio, SSMS, Query Execution Plans, Database Tuning Advisor, DTA, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, Redgate SQL Monitor, SentryOne, SQL Diagnostic, dbForge Monitor)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly production support processes tied to data integrity and application functionality
- Load, validate, and reconcile large data sets, ensuring completeness, consistency, and correctness
- Identify and resolve missing, partial, or duplicate data through structured data quality workflows
- Investigate and fix data anomalies, bad records, and performance issues in collaboration with other teams
- Engage with business stakeholders to clarify issues and ensure alignment between data and operational needs
- Contribute to performance tuning efforts (queries, jobs, stored procedures) using SQL Server tooling
- Help support the ongoing migration from .NET Framework to .NET Core where appropriate
