The Internship Experience

As an Intern, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines, you'll be in the mix. You will work alongside experienced professionals on real projects that make an impact. You’ll get real-world experience in key aspects of our business, including a meaningful project you’ll own and present to senior leaders, while discovering what we’re all about. Outside of your core work, you’ll join skill-building workshops, connect with leaders through executive roundtables, and build community with fellow interns from across the country. When program wraps- the connection doesn’t stop there. About the Regulatory Affairs Team

This internship is part of the Regulatory Affairs crew—a team known for its collaboration and support to our WM Healthcare Solutions (Stericycle) business. . You’ll get to explore the regulations behind medical waste and how they impact our customers and services, learn how things work behind the scenes, and help WM drive purpose in everything we do. Whether you're diving into data, pitching ideas, or helping make things run smoother, what you do will matter—and we want to hear what you think.

Key Job Activities:

  • Uses problem solving skills, determines problems, and understand fundamental parts of the problem.
  • Conducts analysis as directed, and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
  • Please note that you’re expected to do 0% of travel in relation to your work.
    • Potential responsibilities may include
      • Participate in meetings to support the team for projects, office hours, and potentially training sessions
      • Research requirements and background information to support projects
      • Work collaboratively and interface with multiple teams as part of project support
      • Evaluate format and content of materials using provided support resources
      • Work with Regulatory Affairs Team on opportunities to share regulatory information related to our products and services with team members and customers
    • Consolidate research on regulated medical waste regulatory requirements into customer facing resources

Education:

Required Education: in High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience (North America & LATAM):

  • Interns must have a High school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship.The following skills and interests would be useful in this role:
    • Interest in waste management, the environment, compliance, law, employee health and safety, healthcare, and / or sustainability ·
    • Self-starter and ability to work well independently as well as in team environments ·
    • Research capabilities
    • Data input and management in different platforms
    • Experience with Microsoft Office
    • Ability to apply provided information contextually to situations
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and conversation
