Medical Assistant Job Details – Chicago Healthcare Jobs

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Prime access to downtown, museums, and vibrant neighborhoods
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital (Reproductive Unit, Colposcopy Clinic, Termination Clinic)
• Employment Type: Travel Contract Medical Assistant
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Schedule: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts/week (Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:30pm)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $920 - $940
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service

Medical Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting
• Current MA Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, or NRCMA)
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Medical Assisting preferred
• Experience in adult and pediatric outpatient clinics required
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred
• Must reside within 75 miles of the Chicago facility (local candidates only)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemption for flu only)
• Active Illinois Medical Assistant license required at time of application

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in procedure rooms, including OB/GYN and reproductive health procedures
• Set up aseptic and sterile procedure trays
• Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, respirations, temperature, pulse)
• Perform capillary and venipuncture blood draws; label and transport specimens to the laboratory
• Support adolescent and adult patient populations in a hospital environment
• Float to various hospital units as needed (mandatory float facility)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including phlebotomy and pharmacy staff
• Transport procedure trays and laboratory specimens using designated carts
