Handyperson / Companion Extraordinaire Wanted (Tree Huggers Welcome)

Are you equal parts fixer, helper, and nature-loving human? Can you swing a hammer, charm a cat, and get just a little too excited about old military history, native plants and happy birds? If so, keep reading—we’ve got a role that’s anything but ordinary.

We’re looking for a full-time, year-round Handyperson/Companion based in Kendall County to join our small but mighty team. This role blends hands-on work, companionship, and a touch of environmental stewardship.

️ What you’ll be doing:

• Assisting with outdoor chores, native gardening , and light landscaping (bonus points if you know your pollinators )
• General repairs and maintenance across properties .
• Saturday work in the Spring, Summer and Fall Needed with days off during the week.
• Demolition work during remodels (the fun kind of destruction)
• Painting and keeping things looking sharp
• Spotting and reporting repairs before they turn into “well, that escalated quickly”
• Caring for household cats (feeding, brushing, playing—basically being their staff)
• Filling bird feeders and keeping local wildlife well-fed and happy
• Supporting a household Veteran member with progressive memory loss —providing reminders, transportation, and a steady, kind presence
• Helping out with occasional evenings/weekends when needed (overtime).

• Are reliable, detail-oriented, and easy to get along with
• Can move comfortably between “fix-it mode” and “people-first mode”
• Appreciate native plants, healthy ecosystems, and maybe even hugging a tree or two
• Don’t mind getting your hands dirty and your day varied
• Think cats are excellent supervisors (because they definitely do)
