We are seeking a Temporary Controller for a full-time temporary role. The controller is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls, while ensuring compliance with nonprofit-specific laws and standards . This is a Hybrid, full-time, temporary role.

POSITION TITLE: Controller
SCHEDULE: 40 hrs/week - Hybrid - 3 days in office - 2 days remote
DURATION: Temporary 3-6 months
Pay- $40/hr - $60/hr

Our Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in the nonprofit sector or social services organizations.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices, including fund accounting, grant accounting, and financial reporting.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- In-depth understanding of internal controls, compliance, and nonprofit financial management best practices.
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software and financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
How You Will Spend Your Day:
- Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures timely and accurate preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Stays updated on changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and nonprofit financial reporting requirements, ensuring the organization's compliance.
- Responsible for the correct capture of financial-related events (business acquisitions, asset dispositions, etc.) in the financial statements and related disclosures.
- Monitors financial performance, analyzes variances, and budget-to-actual variances. and provides insights to senior management.
- Designs and manages the chart of accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting by units and maintenance of accounting software.
- Informs the annual budgeting process, collaborating with senior leaders to develop comprehensive budgets aligned with organizational goals.
- Establishes and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and grant requirements.
- Manages day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Oversees cash flow management and daily cash balance reporting, ensuring adequate liquidity and timely processing of payments and receipts.
- Coordinates with external auditors for annual audits and provides necessary documentation and support.
- Supervises and mentors finance department staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Brightpoint Employee Handbook.
- Collects, reviews, and utilizes data and information on programs and services to inform program/department performance.
- Participates in regular supervision and staff meetings as required by the department.
- Attends required trainings.
