Software Technical Support Specialist

Porter Lee Corporation (PLC) , located in Schaumburg Illinois, is one of the leading providers of LIMS, (Laboratory Information Management Systems) software for forensic crime laboratories.

A position at PLC involves fielding calls and emails from customers, creating tickets, testing software, and providing solutions for both simple and complex issues. Additionally Support Technicians may work with operating and maintaining network hosting.

Our customers are law enforcement agencies and forensic crime labs from around the entire USA. We provide case management software that has many functions, including:

• Tracking the Chain of Custody of Evidence collected by Law Enforcement from Crime Scene, Police Department, Crime Lab, and to Court
• Importing data from analytical instruments (GCMS, FTIR, DNA Sequencers) to support test results.
• Creating certificates of analysis for forensic disciplines such as Firearms, DNA, Drug Chemistry and Toxicology, and more.

After gaining experience, specialized technical support staff members may work with crystal reports, database issues (MSSQL, ORACLE), MS Word templates and technical troubleshooting.

We also have a project group that that involves travel and on-site implementation of our software for new customers.

Candidates will be required to pass a fingerprint level background check before employment. Employees are frequently required to submit to drug testing when requested to do so by a customer we support.

This position is currently office-only to start.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50-$60Kper year Based on experience in the workforce in related fields.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift (Shifts are 7:30-4:30 or 8:30-5:30 with 1 hour lunch)
• Monday to Friday (Occasional weekends with prior notice)

Willingness to travel:

• Up to10% (Required)

Work Location: In person/hybrid (with in person training)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
