Job Description
The Assembler sets up and operates tools, equipment, and production processes to build high-quality products while following established work instructions, customer specifications, and quality standards. This role combines hands-on assembly work with accurate documentation, active participation in continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with team members to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate tools, equipment, and assembly processes in accordance with provided work instructions and established procedures.
- Use prior experience to perform assembly tasks with limited or no instructions when needed, and assist in creating new work instructions when none are available.
- Follow standard work practices, quality policies, and customer specifications to ensure products meet all quality requirements.
- Monitor personal work output for accuracy and quality, and promptly escalate issues or concerns to supervisors when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records for timekeeping, labor tracking, inventory control, process documentation, scrap, and quality data.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, cleanliness, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute ideas and generate innovative solutions to complex problems in the production process.
- Stay current on all required certifications and training for the role and complete assigned tasks on time without compromising quality.
- Manage workload effectively by organizing tasks, prioritizing activities, and meeting production goals.
- Train other team members on tasks and processes when assigned, sharing best practices and helping to build team capability.
- Adapt to changing priorities, products, or processes and remain flexible in taking on different tasks as needed.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and supervisors to support smooth operations and effective teamwork.
- At least 2 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly diagrams and blueprints.
- Ability to use computers for basic tasks such as data entry, documentation, and accessing work instructions.
- Basic computer skills, including navigating software and entering information accurately.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure assemblies meet quality and specification requirements.
- Ability to adapt to change in processes, priorities, and product requirements.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to document work and collaborate with others.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and perform different tasks on a frequent basis.
- Sound judgment and the ability to demonstrate initiative in resolving issues and improving work processes.
- Comfort working with schematics to support assembly and troubleshooting activities.
- Experience maintaining documentation related to inventory, scrap, and quality records.
- Experience participating in or supporting continuous improvement or process improvement initiatives.
- Willingness and ability to train others on tasks and processes when requested.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.25/hr.
