CNC Set Up- Lead

Position Summary

The CNC Set-Up Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining CNC machines to ensure optimal production efficiency and quality. This hourly position involves working closely with machinists, programmers, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations and on-time delivery of high-quality components.

Key Responsibilities

• CNC Machine Set-Up:- Perform setup and calibration of CNC machines, focusing on Okuma vertical and horizontal machining centers.

  • Install and align fixtures, tooling, and materials to meet blueprint specifications and production requirements.
  • Load and verify CNC programs and adjust machine parameters as needed.

• First-Article Inspection:- Conduct first-article inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet customer and company quality standards.

  • Collaborate with the quality team to resolve any dimensional or tolerance issues.

• Troubleshooting and Maintenance:- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine issues, including tooling wear, alignment problems, and setup errors.

  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.

• Process Documentation:- Maintain accurate records of setup procedures, adjustments, and tooling used for repeatability and efficiency in future production runs.

  • Communicate process improvements or challenges to supervisors and programming teams.

• Collaboration and Teamwork:- Work closely with machinists and production staff to ensure efficient workflow and meet production schedules.

  • Provide input and feedback to improve processes, tooling, and machining efficiency.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in CNC machining is a plus.

• Experience:- Minimum of 2 years of experience setting up CNC machines, preferably with Okuma vertical and horizontal machining centers.

  • Familiarity with interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.

• Technical Skills:- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code.

  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.

• Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and control system issues.

• Physical Requirements:- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Soft Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Salary Range

Competitive hourly rate based on experience, estimated between $24 and $30 per hour, with opportunities for overtime.
