Overview

Welcome to the Carol Stream Folding Carton plant of Graphic Packaging International, Inc.! As a new employee, you are joining a team of dedicated employees in one of the Company’s most modern facilities. In addition, you have become a member of an organization whose facilities range throughout the U.S. as well as Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Europe.

You have been hired as an Offset Feeder in the Printing Department . Your current base rate of pay is $26.80 per hour . After your training period, you may be transferred to another shift based on your seniority and the Company’s need. Normally, you will work a forty (40) hour week. However, at times it is necessary to work overtime. All time worked over eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week, on Saturday or Sunday is considered overtime (or double time). When your department is scheduled to work overtime, you will be expected to work. For the next ninety working (90) days service you are considered a probationary employee. Should your work not meet our expected standards and/or you do not attend work regularly, you may be terminated. Employees are expected to be at their workstations at the start of their shift and are not permitted to leave until relieved for breaks, or until the end of their shift.

Lunchroom and breakroom facilities are available for employee use. During your shift you will receive two (10) minute breaks and a twenty (20) minute lunch assigned by your supervisor.

Anytime you are unable to work, you must call the GPIWorks Answering Service at 855-447-4967 . You must take down your confirmation number and follow the questions they ask you. Otherwise, the Printing Department’s phone number is 630.260.6596 for any other information that you need.

We recognize the Graphic Communications Union as the bargaining unit for our plant production employees. We have negotiated an agreement with them that all plant employees will join the union within ninety (90) days of employment. An initiation fee of $250.00 (in increments of $62.50, $62.50 and $62.50) and 2.5 hours of monthly dues will be deducted from your paycheck according to the payment schedule set-up. Your dues will automatically be deducted from the first paycheck of each month.

Finally, it is necessary that you keep the Personnel Department informed of all changes in your address and/or phone number. The Personnel Department phone number is 630.260.6545. You may reach someone in Personnel from the hours of 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.

Medical & Dental Insurance

As an employee of the Carol Stream Folding Carton plant of Graphic Packaging International you will be able to participate in some excellent benefit programs. You are eligible to enroll in our medical and dental insurance plans after ninety (90) days of employment. We offer a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Select Care and PPO medical plans along with a dental plan provided by MetLife and a vision plan provided by VSP. When enrolling in benefits, you will need to contact Your Benefit Resources at (800) 201-6885 or go online at after receiving your first or second paycheck. When you contact YBR, they will send out dependent certification papers asking you to provide Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, etc. This information will need to be faxed over to YBR prior to your 90th day of employment.

401-K

You are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) program through Fidelity after one (1) year of employment.

Holidays

Upon completion of thirty (30) days with the Company, you will qualify for holiday pay beginning with the next holiday following the thirty (30) days of employment.

Vacations

After you have been with the Company for one (1) year, you will be entitled to one (1) week vacation with pay. After three (3) years with the Company, you will receive two (2) weeks of vacation. After eight (8) years with the Company, you will receive three (3) weeks of vacation. After fifteen (15) years of service, you will be entitled to four (4) weeks of vacation per year. After twenty (20) year of service, you will earn five (5) weeks of vacation.
