Senior Inpatient Coder

Compensation: $28–$40/hour

LaSalle Network is hiring a Senior Inpatient Coder to join a nationally recognized healthcare system committed to clinical excellence and innovation. This Senior Inpatient Coder will serve as a subject matter expert, working on high-acuity inpatient cases and driving accurate reimbursement through precise, compliant coding practices.

What’s the job?

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient discharges
• Review clinical documentation and CDI insights to ensure coding accuracy
• Assign Present on Admission (POA) indicators for quality reporting
• Validate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignments for reimbursement accuracy
• Collaborate with CDI teams on complex cases (~45% of discharges)
• Review discharge disposition to ensure compliance with reimbursement policies
• Utilize CAC tools to streamline coding workflows
• Draft appeal letters for DRG downgrades when needed

What’s needed?

• RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification required
• 3+ years of inpatient coding experience in acute care
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and Coding Clinics
• Deep understanding of disease processes, anatomy and pharmacology
• Experience with DRG methodologies and risk adjustment models
• AHIMA membership required
