Job Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher (Maternity Leave Coverage)

We are hiring a temporary Special Education Teacher to provide maternity leave coverage in a middle school self-contained classroom. This position starts in mid-October and continues through January 2026. The classroom serves five students with the support of two paraprofessionals.

Key responsibilities for this role include providing small-group instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, ensuring that each student receives targeted academic support. The teacher will collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and support staff to create a cohesive and effective support system. Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation will be essential to track growth and inform instructional decisions. Additionally, the role involves supporting the implementation and compliance of IEPs and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.

Requirements

Applicants must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field, along with a valid Illinois teaching certification in Early Childhood Special Education. While experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities is preferred, excellent communication and collaboration skills are key to partnering with families and colleagues to foster student success.
