Orthopedic RN Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Orthopedic Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801 (Illinois nursing jobs)
• Unit: Orthopedic Inpatient Unit
• Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Shifts per Week: 3 (36 hours/week guaranteed)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/27/2025)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,090 - $2,140 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (Registered Nurse – Illinois)
• Minimum one (1) year of recent orthopedic or medical-surgical nursing experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required

Orthopedic RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic inpatients, following best practices in orthopedic and clinical support
• Implement orthopedic nursing procedures and evidence-based care plans
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Educate orthopedic and med/surg patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transitions
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
• Delegate and supervise interventions performed by healthcare support staff
• Set up and manage orthopedic traction devices and wound appliances (wound vacs, drains, pouches, urological devices)
• Maintain accurate documentation and update care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
• Participate in ongoing professional development and required annual education
