Part-Time Legal Claims Auditor – Auto Insurance

Location: In Office
Employment Type: Part-Time

Hourly Rate: $75–$85/hour, equivalent to $150-$170,000 full time

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Part-Time Legal Claims Auditor with a strong background in the automotive insurance industry to conduct an in-depth reviews of legal claim files across multiple jurisdictions. This role is ideal for an attorney or seasoned legal claim professional who understands the nuances of state-specific auto liability laws, litigation environments, and risk factors unique to the auto industry.

The primary focus is to identify problematic files—particularly those with bad optics, elevated legal risk, or inefficient strategies—and recommend actionable steps to protect the company from extra-contractual exposure and reduce legal spend without increasing the risk of adverse outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and audit auto-related legal claim files (e.g., BI, Property Damage, liability, litigation) across various states.
• Identify concerning trends or specific risks such as questionable legal strategies or bad faith exposure.
• Recommend actions to improve case posture, reduce financial exposure, or streamline litigation costs.
• Assess external counsel performance and strategic alignment with company objectives.
• Prepare concise, well-documented reports highlighting key legal issues and suggested interventions.
• Monitor legal and regulatory trends affecting auto claims across jurisdictions.
• Work closely with internal legal and claims teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

• Licensed attorney or legal claims professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in auto liability, litigation management, or insurance defense.
• Deep familiarity with auto insurance litigation, including bad faith, coverage issues, and state-specific legal frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to assess case value and legal posture.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Prior experience auditing legal files or managing complex auto litigation is strongly preferred.
