Electro-Mechanical Technician (Wastewater Plant Mechanic) (Mokena)
The Village of Mokena is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Wastewater Plant Mechanic within the Public Works Department. This is a skilled role involving maintenance, inspection, evaluation, and repair of equipment at the Village’s wastewater treatment facility, lift stations, and well houses.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, blowers, piping, and related apparatus.
· Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems including SCADA, VFDs, and other operator interfaces.
· Conduct inspections and maintain records for wastewater and water pumping operations.
· Lead and train subordinate staff in maintenance procedures.
· Assist with departmental operations such as snow control and emergency responses as needed.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum one to three years of experience in mechanical maintenance or similar technical training.
· Valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
· Class B CDL or Class C license preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
· Strong knowledge of motor controls, SCADA systems, electrical and mechanical repair.
· Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds and work in physically demanding outdoor and indoor environments.
· Class 4 Wastewater Facility Operator’s certificate issued by the Illinois EPA or ability to obtain within one year is preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
· Pursuant to the Local 150 Collective Bargaining Agreement, the starting annual salary is $88,636 with structured step increases and annual cost of living adjustments.
