Summary:

RDBI Design Engineering Co-op

The Co-op Student performs as a member of the Breakthrough Innovation team within R&D. The Student conducts early prototyping activities, including but not limited to concept development, design refinement and 3D modeling . The Student is expected to prioritize and manage multiple and simultaneous work assignments as directed by members of the R&D team and the R&D Manager. The Student is expected to comply with established safety guidelines and perform duties according to standard operating procedure (SOP) when applicable.

For this opportunity, the expectation is to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week in the Libertyville, IL office.

Responsibilities:

• Having a clear understanding of customer needs to accurately reflect the problem(s) to be solved and guide subsequent concept design.
• Understanding of current market solutions and their limitations
• Understanding current patent space
• Early concept and prototype development.

• 3-dimensional modeling (i.e. CAD).

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Academic Credentials/Length of Experience

• Participation in a Co-operative Education program requires enrollment in an accredited program of study leading to a Baccalaureate or Masters degree in biomedical engineering, or a closely-related engineering discipline.

Specialized skills/technical knowledge

• Coursework in engineering and data analytics
• Experience in collecting, recording, and analysis of data
• Experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Ability to follow procedures and cooperate with other team members
• Demonstration of interest in research subjects or product development, team activities, and desire to positively contribute to outcomes

Other requirements

• Regular attendance is expected. R&D Manager may permit scheduling around concurrent course schedules on a per case basis. Reliable transportation to Hollister’s Libertyville headquarters may be required. A minimum of three days per week in the office is a requirement.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. The actual salary varies based on applicant's education & skills.
