Data & Reporting Developer

Job Summary:
As a Data & Reporting Developer, you will design, build, and maintain SQL-based data solutions that power reporting and analytics across Blitt and Gaines, P.C.’s systems. This role focuses on developing stored procedures, queries, and data structures that support internal reporting platforms and business intelligence tools.

You will work closely with the Manager of Data Operations and other development team members to ensure data is accurate, performant, and structured appropriately for reporting and analysis. This role will also support Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions as part of the firm’s broader data strategy.

This is an experienced technical position with opportunities to expand into broader data engineering and analytics responsibilities. You will report to the Manager of Data Operations and collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL stored procedures and queries that support the firm’s reporting platforms.
• Optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support and maintain Power BI dashboards, datasets, and data models.
• Prepare and structure data to ensure it is suitable for reporting, analytics, and visualization.
• Work with the Manager of Data Operations to ensure reporting systems follow database design and performance best practices.
• Participate in the source control and pull request process for SQL code changes.
• Assist with troubleshooting production issues related to reports, data accuracy, or query performance.
• Document reporting logic, stored procedures, and data sources used within reporting solutions.
• Continuously review and improve reporting processes to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: • 2+ years of professional experience working with Microsoft SQL Server. • Strong proficiency writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures. • Experience optimizing SQL queries. • Experience supporting or building SQL-based reporting solutions. • Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence tools. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications: • Experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and datasets. • Experience working with Azure DevOps, Git, or similar source control systems. • Familiarity with dimensional modeling or data warehouse concepts. • Experience working with large datasets or high-volume transactional systems.

Nice to Haves: • Familiarity with Collection Master software • Experience in the litigation or collections industry • Experience supporting operational or financial reporting environments
