The budgeted salary for this position is typically $1,000 per credit hour.

Primary duties include teaching 1 or 2 classes during a 4.5 month semester. Faculty members are expected to teach, develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught, and hold regular office hours. Faculty are hired, evaluated, and retained on the basis of conditions covered in the Union Contract.

Required Education

Master's degree in African-American Studies or related field is required (Ph.D. or ABD status is preferred). Degree must be from an accredited institution.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work effectively with students of various ages and of differing competencies and non-traditional backgrounds. xrczosw

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in teaching college courses, an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population, strong organizational skills, and experience using instructional technology.
