Customer Service Representative

Position: Customer Service Associate/ Lead Register Person/ Barista / Expeditor
Job Type: Full Time
Wage/ Salary:$20 - 22 an hour
Experience: Beginner/Intermediate

This is not a barista role, though candidates with barista experience are preferred. There is the opportunity to expand the role to also include 1-2 barista shifts per week after 3 months of employment, for candidates who already have barista experience.

Obligations:

• Research and maintain a working knowledge of developments in the coffee and food industries

• Must stay informed of company business by participating in meetings, reading emails, and reviewing social media

• Must be willing to expand your abilities as a customer service associate and expand your knowledge as a coffee and beverage professional through training

• Strive to be a little bit better today than yesterday

Qualifications:

• Intermediate skills and experience in preparing and serving specialty coffee/food

• Must currently hold (or be willing to pursue) Illinois state sexual harassment prevention training, food handlers certification and food allergen awareness certification

• Ability to stand on one's feet and work effectively at workstation for up to 5 hours without a break

• Ability to bend to grasp objects, climb step stool and lift loads up to 50 lbs unassisted

• An intermediate to advance ability to brew coffee and make excellent espresso-based beverages

• Ability to identify and complete tasks with minimum supervision

Responsibilities:

• Arrive at cafe in advance of one's scheduled shift, clock in on time, and be prepared to perform all duties with a high degree of professionalism

• Welcome customers and maintain a friendly disposition at all times

• Handle customer transactions and operate the point of sale device (register) as needed and necessary

• Manage customer expectations and provide thoughtful and spotless service
• Maintain composure during peak periods and ability to focus on sidework during slower moments

• Expedite (run) food orders to customers as needed

• Contribute positively to a cooperative work environment

• Stay focused while executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently

• Maintain an organized station while demonstrating an excessively methodical work style

• Demonstrate a desire and ability to work magic with coffee
• Assist with daily cleaning of the café (dishwashing, polishing, sweeping, busing, etc.) and all coffee equipment

• Understand and communicate coffee specific knowledge about our coffee program and current offerings

• Effectively communicate and share information with co-workers and management

• Other professional duties as negotiated, agreed upon and assigned
