We are now seeking an unpaid intern at the HECC Clubhouse to join our Team!

This is an unpaid internship opportunity HACC Clubhouse: Must be enrolled in a college/university and hours are required for graduation or course completion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Collaborate in the implementation of the afterschool program
• Spend time with the youth members modeling high quality mentoring
• Support with supervision of youth in the after-school program
• Plan and co-facilitate recreational activities that include STEM, Arts, and tutoring
• Support with intake forms prior to starting program
• Support with planning and facilitating family engagement activities and community events
• Maintain program resources including equipment and supplies
• Prepare and co-facilitate educational workshops using Popular Education methodology.
• Supports with establishing and developing partnerships with community organizations
• Support and foster the empowerment of youth. Youth voice in decision-making is an essential element in leadership development and creating social change
• Support and educate youth participants in developing leadership skills while assisting youth in creating effective social change within their community
• Foster the empowerment of youth through their leadership style.
• Supports the goal of achieving that program space is, at all times, an oppression-free zone and ensuring a safe space for all
• Respond to behavior incidents within the program with preference towards restorative justice methods (i.e. peace circles, peer mediation, and goal setting).
• Adheres to and maintains compliance with mandated work plan.
• Adhere to the HACC Policies
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in a college/university and intern hours are required for graduation or needed for course credit.
• Bi-lingual-English/Spanish preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the essential duties of this job, the intern is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
• The intern is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
• The intern may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
