Job Summary
The Graphic Designer is responsible for planning, creating, and delivering high quality visual, video, and web-based materials that support university initiatives and training efforts. This role designs wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups for websites; produces digital and print assets such as documents, reports, presentations, videos, newsletters, and program brochures using industry-standard tools; and collaborates as a member of website development teams to ensure adherence to university branding and design standards. The position works closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective graphical, video, and web deliverables, while also serving as a consultant on projects by applying a human-centered design approach to the development of training materials. Duties & Responsibilities

• Create wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups for websites.
• Use industry-standard graphic design and video editing tools to create documents, reports, presentations, videos, and various design assets.
• Design print publications, newsletters, and program brochures.
• Serve on website development teams to ensure university design and branding standards are met.
• Work with stakeholders to identify requirements that result in the development of graphical, video, and web deliverables.
• Serve as a consultant on projects, leveraging a human-centered design process to assist with creating training deliverables.
• May assist higher level coworkers in supervising work operations and lower-level coworkers, such as:
  a. assisting higher level coworkers, customers, and stakeholders in determining the most efficient and economical means of producing graphics to convey the customers' information
  b. assisting higher level coworkers in orienting and training new personnel in operation of equipment, in-house procedures, terminology, and methods
  c. maintaining files of job orders
  d. proofing completed jobs before and after production
  e. ordering supplies and maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies
• Other duties and responsibilities as appropriate for a Graphic Designer.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Any one or any combination that equals thirty-six (36) months from the categories below: a. credit for progressively more advanced college or art-school course work that would lead to a major in graphic/visual arts communication and/or design: 60 semester hours equals 12 months 90 semester hours equals 24 months, 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 36 months, b. work experience and/or on-the-job training that provided knowledge of progressively more advanced, generally accepted principles, theories, practices, and methods used in graphic designs and their applications to visual communications problems that are/is comparable to the training provided in the programs such as graphic/visual arts communication and/or design 2. Twenty-Four (24) months of graphic design experience comparable to that performed at the Graphic Designer Associate level of this series (A Master's degree in visual design, with emphasis in visual arts communication or a closely related field, meets the requirements of this Minimum Acceptable Qualification.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Working knowledge of CSS and HTML.
• Knowledge of principles and methods for human-centered design.
• Understanding of digital accessibility standards and best practices.
• Ability to project a dynamic and pleasant personality in public appearances.
• Ability to work independently, creatively, and efficiently under time constraints.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand, summarize, and present information in both written and oral formats, including excellent telephone skills.
• Proficiency working with Microsoft 365 products including Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 1006 - Graphic Designer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/4/2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000 to $65,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
