Junior Accountant

Sunrise Futures is in search of candidates for their newly created role of Junior Accountant in their Accounting and Finance team. Our firm is looking to build out the finance and accounting function by starting at the junior level to ensure organic growth for this individual as Sunrise Futures continues to scale. Overall, the best candidate for this role will be someone who is either entering the workforce post graduation or has 1-2 years of accounting/finance experience and hoping to expand upon that. Someone who is eager to learn, takes initiative and has an interest in the trading industry is most important. This individual should be proficient in Microsoft excel and have an educational background in accounting and/or finance. A candidate with QuickBooks and/or Excel Macros experience is a plus. A CPA is not required for this role.

Duties:

- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

- Perform entries within QuickBooks accounting software

- Assist with audit and tax requests

- Prepare audit confirmations with external auditor and senior management

- Perform monthly bank reconciliations

- Assist with daily and monthly review of trading p&l

- Execute tasks related to month end close process

- Assist in the preparation of financial statements

- Complete ad hoc tasks as defined; related to streamlining current work load and improving efficiency and accuracy of accounting and financial data

Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

- Experience with financial report writing and analysis

- Proficiency in using QuickBooks or similar accounting software

- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements

- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or errors

- Familiar with financial products such as equities, futures, options, bonds, etc.
