Mechanic Helper

Bill’s Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping Inc. , a landscaping company, is seeking a motivated and dependable Mechanic Helper to join our team in Frankfort, Illinois. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces, and we need a hardworking individual to support our mechanic in keeping our landscaping equipment and vehicles in top operating condition. As a Mechanic Helper, you will play an important supporting role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of our equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead mechanic with routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on vehicles, landscape equipment, snowplows, and salt spreaders.

• Help perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on small engines and landscaping equipment.

• Assist with maintenance and minor repairs on company vehicles.

• Clean, organize, and maintain the shop area and tools.

• Help manage inventory of spare parts and notify mechanic when supplies are low.

• Perform tire service and basic maintenance tasks as directed.

• Safely operate tools and equipment under supervision.

• Assist with winter snow removal services and onsite equipment support.

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience preferred but not required (willing to train the right candidate).

• Basic knowledge of small engines, tools, and equipment is a plus.

• Strong willingness to learn and take direction.

• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout an entire work shift.

• Knowledge of tire service is a plus.

• Bilingual a bonus.
