Payroll and Benefits Manager
LaSalle Network is hiring for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a dynamic, fast-growing manufacturing organization backed by private equity. This company has tripled in size over the past three years and offers significant exposure to senior leadership.
This fully onsite role is based in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood —a convenient, business-oriented area just 10 minutes from the White Sox stadium and easily accessible from major highways.
We’re seeking a results-driven, customer-service-focused payroll and benefits professional who can confidently own their function, communicate clearly with all levels of staff and management, and help ensure smooth payroll and benefits operations for a 700-employee workforce across multiple locations.
Payroll & Benefits Specialist Responsibilities:
Process full-cycle weekly payroll for 400+ hourly and salaried employees, including union and non-union staff, using Paycor
Ensure accuracy of electronic timecards and proactively follow up with managers to meet tight deadlines
Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws and union rules where applicable
Support benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, FMLA, short-term disability claims, and general employee benefits questions (approx. 15% of the role)
Coordinate with the company’s external broker for benefits-related needs
Serve as a strong partner to the HR team, managers, and leadership, providing high-level customer service and acting as the point person for payroll and benefits inquiries
Support process improvements as the company transitions from manual to electronic timekeeping and HR processes
Communicate proactively with staff and leadership to ensure clarity and compliance across multiple locations
Payroll & Benefits Specialist Requirements:
2+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume, hourly payroll environment (union experience is a plus)
Proficiency with Paycor is required
Working knowledge of benefits administration, FMLA, and basic leave management
Strong communication and follow-up skills; comfortable pushing for information and acting as the “CEO” of your function
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred but not required
Must be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week
