Lead Host
PAY CLARITY : this is a wage position. not a salary position. host shares in the tip pool. and many things impact final weekly pay, including experience and effectiveness. our last host made among the most money on the whole FOH team.
hi. we're looking for a HOST. that's a host with a capital H. but also a capital OST.
we don't view hosting as a mechanical position—seating people quickly, adhering mostly to resy's suggestions with small adjustments and tweaks—though we certainly favor candidates who are proficient in the mechanics. instead, we viewing the host as HOSTING a party.
we're looking for people who know how to build, and then maintain, energy in a dining room. on a patio. people who know how to keep the waiting list on site, as we've got a wonderful place to wait most of the year in our patio and perimeter benches and little bar.
we're looking for people who know how to take risks. who see a 47-minute slot and a two top regular-diner and know how to get them sat and out the door before the next party is here. or who can seat a walk-in 6-top in the place of two two-tops who are both due in 30 minutes, knowing that two tops open and turn with way more velocity and so the risk is low.
our restaurant is like one big house party. and the host touches every single guest.
