Youth Development Professional - Afterschool Program

We’re looking for Youth Development Professionals who are passionate about youth empowerment and ready to make an impact in East St. Louis. If you’re looking for part-time work that’s more than “just a job,” this is your chance to be part of something meaningful.

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is looking for energetic, caring, and committed individuals to join our Afterschool Program as Youth Development Professionals. This part-time opportunity is perfect for students pursuing degrees in education, social work, child development, psychology, sports management, or related fields.

You'll help carry out Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s dream of empowering youth in East St. Louis to Win in Life. Our program offers a fun and engaging environment where youth explore academics, fitness, STEAM, arts, and character development through our signature Winning in Life curriculum.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead group activities, educational games, sports, and enrichment sessions
• Support a safe and positive space where kids feel valued and encouraged
• Incorporate the JJK Winning in Life principles in all programming
• Assist with arrival, check-in, dismissal, snack distribution, and supervision
• Help plan and support programs, events, and activities alongside the Program and Athletic Directors
• Take daily attendance and track participation
• Assist volunteer instructors and maintain organized program spaces

What We’re Looking For:

• High School diploma or GED (required)
• 2+ years experience working with children (paid or volunteer)—mentoring, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, etc.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic about making a difference
• Organized and able to supervise youth in a structured environment

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
