Technology Designer

Job Description

In this role, you will utilize your previous experience to translate system design concepts into detailed layouts by interpreting the basis of design information as well as insights gathered from users, other consultants, field surveys, and code research.

Responsibilities

• Convert system design concepts into specific layouts.
• Interpret information from various sources including basis of design, field surveys, and user input.
• Design Information Communications Technology (ICT) systems within built environments.
• Lead the design process for ICT projects.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across various offices.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years’ experience designing ICT systems in a Built Environment, Building Technology, or Electrical consultant firm.
• Proficiency in Revit, particularly within the context of ICT design.
• Experience in designing horizontal cabling, copper backbone, and fiber backbone systems.
• Understanding of wireless access points, physical security systems, and audio-visual technology.
• Experience with ICT systems and infrastructure, including budgets, capabilities, and options.
• Familiarity with construction document and technology engineering.
• RCDD certification is beneficial.

Work Environment

This role is within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with a collaborative community of over 800 employees. The company has been recognized as a top engineering and science and technology firm. The position is tied to the Chicago office, with approximately 50 employees, but offers flexibility to work from other offices such as Denver, Madison, Overland Park, Houston, and Austin. The work environment is hybrid, allowing for 2-3 days of work from home, with some remote work possible initially. The firm supports sustainable design practices and offers opportunities to work on high-profile projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $72.12/hr.
