Claims Specialist - Credit and Surety

About the Role:
As a Claims Specialist, you'll manage assigned claims within your designated region, while investigating complex solutions for both contract and commercial bond claims. You will implement strategic resolutions while collaborating with underwriters, agents, attorneys, and other professionals. The Claims Specialist will evaluate and manage various claims and provide world class service.
Key Responsibilities include…
- Evaluate and resolve contract and commercial bond claims within authorized limits, applying sound analytical judgment
- Establish and adjust sufficient loss and expense case reserves based on thorough claim analysis
- Report developments on claims and salvage matters to SVP/Claims, underwriters, agents, and reinsurers
- Oversee and manage the services of attorneys, accountants, engineers, and construction consultants
- Maximize recovery opportunities and effectively manage litigation processes
- Deliver exceptional service to underwriters and agents within your assigned region
- Collaborate with the SVP/Claims on various strategic projects as needed

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business discipline or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in claims management, preferably in surety or related bond fields
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical capabilities
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to resolve complex disputes effectively
Additional nice to haves:
- Experience in contract or commercial bond claims specifically
- Knowledge of construction industry practices and terminology
- Background in litigation management (attorney)
- Experience working with external consultants and service providers
- Familiarity with insurance or surety industry regulations
The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,000 to $140,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
