Med Lab Technologist

Simple Laboratories is searching for a Full time Med Lab Technologist for our on-site West Loop Chicago location to performboth routine and complex analyses which necessitates knowledge of laboratory techniques principles and equipment. The position is expected to exercise good judgement by utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills on issues that concern the daily operation of the laboratory. The MLT also ensures accuracy viability and expeditious testing of samples to deliver quality laboratory results in an effective and cost-efficient manner. The MLT position is expected to rotate in Chemistry Hematology Immunology/Serology Clinical Microscopy and Microbiology. The ideal candidate has worked within a hospital environment and can work both independently and collaboratively for optimization of results.

Schedule: 3rd Shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently processes analyzes and reports laboratory results with accuracy while upholding strict confidentiality and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
• Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.
• Perform a variety of routine and special laboratory procedures as authorized by the Manager or Director including rotation through at least three (3) areas of the Clinical Lab: Hematology Chemistry Coagulation Urinalysis Immunology/Serology and Microbiology.
• Operate laboratory equipment and instruments; record data maintain equipment calibrate perform quality control testing and troubleshooting.
• Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials including blood-borne pathogens.
• Fosters a collaborative and positive work environment by actively contributing to a dynamic team-oriented unit focused on achieving optimal departmental outcomes and engages effectively with fellow members of the patient care team through clear communication and timely reporting of critical patient care information.
• Demonstrates proficiency in all six competency elements required for test systems used to generate patient results across assigned laboratory areas.
• Utilizes hospital and organizational resources efficiently to support operational effectiveness and cost-conscious practices.
• Identifies investigates and assists in resolving test discrepancies. Take appropriate action when issues arise including initiating follow-up procedures and notifying management and the medical director as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned that are reasonably related to role.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates degree in laboratory science or related field required.
• MLT certification.
• 1 -2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
