Believing that the key to a successful Christian school is its staff, we seek professionally qualified applicants who, like Christ, genuinely love children and who, by the pattern of their lives, are Christian role models (Luke 6:40). We look forward to receiving your application.

SCS teachers are charged with equipping students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him. As an SCS staff member, they live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents, and team members. Our staff see students as more than just young people to lead toward curriculum mastery. They also see each student as someone created on purpose, for a purpose – unique individuals to be known and loved.

Our teachers are essential in helping students discover their identity in Christ and thrive in a school community that values excellence in spiritual and academic development.

SCS Teachers:

  • Demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Have a passion for connecting students with Christ and His mission
  • Are emotionally and spiritually healthy
  • Lead students to achieve excellent outcomes
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Hold an Illinois Teaching License or ACSI Certification (or be eligible to hold state-level teaching certification/licensure)

Note: Subject Area Teachers must also be able to lead SCS students to master a specific subject area curriculum.


Anticipated Salary Range & Benefits
SCS offers a salary range of $35-50K for full-time faculty members. For part-time faculty, the range is $6-14K (salary) or $25 per hour. SCS determines compensation using several factors (including): education, experience, performance, and skills. Full-time benefits include Group Insurance for Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long-Term Disability, a 403(b) Retirement Plan (with employer match), Paid Holidays & Time Off, and Tuition Support for Eligible Children. Part-time benefits include a 403(b) Retirement Plan (without match), Paid Time Off, and (if qualified) Tuition Support for Eligible Children.

After School Program Counselors (Part-Time, Support Staff)

After School Program Counselors (Part-Time, Support Staff)

Under the leadership of the After School Program (ASP) Director, ASP Counselors provide programming for SCS students after school each day. As part of the ASP Team, counselors should be able to interact effectively with students, parents, coworkers, and supervisors, and possess humility and a willingness to be a team player. They will plan centers for students and help implement that programming as they interact with and supervise students during activities and snack periods (and perform other duties as assigned by the ASP Director). ASP Counselors must have a proven track record of positive experience working with children and demonstrate responsibility, hard work, and flexibility. Typical hours: 3:15 to 5:30 pm on regular school days.

This person shall reflect the purpose of SCS, which is to equip students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him. As a member of the SCS staff, they must live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents, and team members.

After School Program Counselors:

  • Evidence a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Have a passion for connecting students with Christ and His mission
  • Are emotionally and spiritually healthy
  • Able to lead students well in both structured and unstructured settings
  • Help our program to be fun and safe in a way that honors Christ and the mission of SCS
  • Have previous experience with working with/supervising students
  • Are at least 16 years of age (preferred). If age 15, applicants must be in at least their second or sophomore year of high school and able to secure a work permit.

Substitute Teachers

Springfield Christian School is currently seeking candidates to serve as substitute teachers. If you would like to be added to our substitute list, please download and fill out the Substitute Instructor Application. Once completed, you can email the application to [email protected], mail the application to SCS (2850 Cider Mill Lane., Springfield, IL 62702), or drop off the application at the SCS Office. The pay rate is $128 a day ($16 per hour).
