Quality Technician

Job Title: Quality Technician Job Description

This role involves working on the inspection of various metal parts. The successful candidate will utilize tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators, and will be responsible for operating a CMM machine for inspections. While initial training will be provided for CMM programming, the expectation is to become proficient in the long term. The role entails taking parts from production and running them through the quality process. The majority of the day will be spent on inspection and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document the quality of metal parts using micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
• Operate and eventually program a CMM machine for inspections.
• Take parts from production and conduct thorough quality checks.
• Conduct visual inspections and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards.
• Perform internal audits and maintain compliance with ISO standards.
• Engage in general duties, including cleaning the work area and filing paperwork.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to read blueprints or possess strong mathematical skills.
• Understanding of tolerances, dimensions, and GD&T.
• Experience in internal auditing.
• Technical mindset with a proactive approach.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• ITAR compliance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred).

Work Environment

The position is for the first shift, running from 6 am to 2:30 pm, with flexibility for a later start time and opportunities for overtime. The company is small, with 50-60 employees, and you will work in a small office just off the manufacturing floor, occasionally walking the floor to retrieve finished products. The work involves aerospace parts and government contracts. The dress code includes jeans and a work shirt, with steel-toed shoes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
