JOB TITLE: Summer Baseball Field Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Jack LeGrand, Athletic Director

POSITION SUMMARY We are looking for a reliable, hard-working individual to ensure our baseball field is safe, playable, and professional-looking. This role requires a flexible schedule during the summer season, specifically regarding weather conditions and weekend schedules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Game Preparation (Approx. 1 Hour Per Game)

• Surface Management: Drag and groom infields to ensure smooth play.
• Moisture Control: Operate the water truck on dry fields to manage dust and soil consistency.
• Field Marking: Rake and chalk batter’s boxes; chalk foul lines. (Occasional deep maintenance required to restring and straighten lines from home plate to the outfield fence).
• Setup: Install bases prior to game time and secure them post-game.
• General Repair: Fill holes in the mound, batter's boxes, and sliding areas as needed.

SCHEDULE & TIME COMMITMENT

Weekday Games:

• Typically single games on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the summer.
• Requires arrival approx. 1 hour prior to game time for prep.

Saturdays:

• Typically 3–4 games per day.
• Requirement: The field must be prepped/touched up between each game .

Sundays:

• Typically 2–3 games.
• Standard Procedure: We aim to prep Sunday fields on Saturday night after the last game.

Rain & Weather Protocols:

• Must be flexible. Rain days often require a "split-shift."
• Example: Arriving early (e.g., 6:00 AM) to rake mud/puddles, leaving to let the field dry, and returning later to finish grooming and lining.
• Communicating if the field is not playable to the facilities coordinator or athletic director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Reliability: Games cannot start if the field isn't ready. Punctuality is essential.
• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift bases, rake dirt, and walk the fields extensively.
• Equipment: Experience with a water truck or field drag is a plus, but we can train.
