Job Title: Diesel Truck Mechanic
Job Description

The diesel mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing a fleet of late-model trucks and tanker trailers used for liquid bulk transportation across the U.S. and Canada. This position involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all equipment complies with DOT regulations. Mechanics work with specialized systems such as pumps, valves, GPS units, and in-transit heat systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with diesel engines, particularly Cummins and Detroit Diesel, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair diesel trucks and tanker trailers.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Work with GPS and heating systems installed on transport equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Diesel engine repair and maintenance.
  • Automotive maintenance and mechanics.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools like OBD scanners and multimeters.
  • Pump assembly and diagnostic testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with diesel engines and trailer systems.
  • Familiarity with tanker equipment such as pumps, valves, and heating systems.
  • CDL license may be preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Work Environment

Work is conducted during 1st shift, typically from 7 am to 4:30 pm, with every other Saturday required. The job is based in a large, open-air garage, equipped with fans for hot months and the option to close doors when it's cold. The team is small, allowing for more autonomy and collaboration among workers who share a blue-collar ethos.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $93600.00/yr.
