Commercial Construction Project Manager
Zone Mechanical provides expert commercial and industrial refrigeration services in Northern Illinois and Northwestern Indiana. Specializing in installation, service, sales, and maintenance, they also lead in CO2 refrigeration systems. Their team offers full project management, from system design to installation and ongoing maintenance, ensuring efficient and reliable refrigeration solutions.
The Project Manager oversees implementing the overall project plan for
construction activities, delivering the projects within budget and at pre-determined cost
level. This individual will work closely with the client providing status updates on
timelines as well as budgeted costs and will be responsible for all documentation for
change orders. The PM will most likely be working on multiple projects for the
commercial retail client.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and execute project work plans, including tracking and reporting resource
availability, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities. Establish clear
project roles and responsibilities.
- Travel required as needed
- Coordinate the overall planning for communication, project risk, change
management and training.
- Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
- Communicate effectively with project teams to identify needs and evaluate
alternative business solutions.
- Gather and review construction documents
- Working with other Project Managers during bidding, negotiation, and post bid
process
- Visit job sites to monitor production / quality assurance
- Review the work progress on daily basis
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
- Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
- Operate as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to your
customers
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
- Expand customer opportunities with other services we provide
- Identify and grow opportunities within territory and collaborate with sales teams
to ensure growth attainment
- Assist with high severity requests or issues escalations as needed
- Visit customer locations one time per week at minimum
- Responsible for achieving and maintaining desired gross profit percentage for
your customer bases
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
- Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses
Basic Qualifications:
- New product development experience required.
- PMP certification a plus.
- Experience working with and effectively leading cross functional teams essential.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality projects on tight schedules.
- Strong and effective decision-making skills a must.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Individual must be a self-starter with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize required.
- Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision a
must.
- Discretion and confidentiality required.
- Ability to work as a team member in a rapidly changing environment.
- Reliable, predictable attendance within client service hours for the performance
of this position.
- Responsive to internal and external client needs.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and
externally.
- Knowledge of industry is required
- Must be well-organized and detail oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job-related experience
- Computer knowledge must include: MS Office- Word, Excel and Outlook
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or
move up to 15 pounds; noise level is usually quiet. Ability to train
