Travel RN - Neuro Med-Surg Position Summary

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center - Peoria, IL

Key Position Details

• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Duration: 182 days (approximately 26 weeks)
• Specialty: Neuro Med-Surg Acute
• Shift: 12-hour Nights, 4x12's
• Number of Positions: 1
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Priority: Standard
• Orientation: 12 hours (non-billable, guaranteed hours do not apply)

Unit Details

• Beds: 54 beds (2 semi-private)
• Nurse:Patient Ratio:
  • Day shift: 1:4-5
  • Night shift: 1:5-6
• EMR System: EPIC
• Monitors: Phillips (house-wide telemetry, nurses do not read strips)

Required Qualifications & Experience

• MUST HAVE:
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Previous travel experience (NO first-time travelers)
  • Prior dedicated neuro unit experience
  • Heparin drip titration experience
• Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
• Licenses: Active IL license OR confirmation application process initiated at submission
• BSN: Not required

Clinical Skills Required

• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience patients, some medical overflow
• Drip Titration: Yes - Heparin drips titrated based on PTT
• RT Equipment: High flow for stable COVID only (rare)
• Staffing Support:
  • Charge nurse 24/7 (no assignment unless short-staffed)
  • House supervisor 24/7
  • PCTs: Days 1:9-10, Evenings 1:9-10, Nights 1:10-12
