Available Positions
Hair Braider
The Hair Braider specializes in professional protective styling while maintaining the health and integrity of the client's natural hair.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of braid styles, including:
- Knotless Braids
- Box Braids
- Stitch Braids
- Feed-In Braids
- Cornrows
- Tribal Braids
- Fulani Braids
- Goddess Braids
- Faux Locs
- Soft Locs
- Passion Twists
- Senegalese Twists
- Perform professional client consultations.
- Analyze hair and scalp condition before every service.
- Recommend appropriate braid styles based on hair health.
- Educate clients on proper aftercare.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation.
- Follow all LYRD Salon policies and Illinois sanitation standards.
Hair Technician
Hair Technicians assist licensed professionals while developing advanced braiding and client service skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare clients for services.
- Shampoo and condition hair.
- Detangle natural hair.
- Blow dry and stretch hair.
- Assist with braid removal.
- Maintain salon cleanliness.
- Sanitize tools and equipment.
- Stock supplies and prepare workstations.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
Hair Designer
Hair Designers combine creativity with technical skill to deliver customized luxury hairstyles.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced braid designs.
- Create custom parting patterns.
- Recommend hair color selections.
- Recommend extension types.
- Consult with clients to achieve desired results.
- Photograph completed work for salon portfolio (with client consent).
- Mentor junior team members.
Master Braider
Master Braiders are experienced professionals who demonstrate exceptional technical skill, leadership, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced protective styles.
- Correct braid installations completed by less experienced staff.
- Train and mentor Hair Braiders and Hair Technicians.
- Lead consultations for complex hair and scalp conditions.
- Ensure proper braid tension and healthy hair practices.
- Maintain high client satisfaction standards.
- Assist management with quality assurance.
Hair Stylist
Hair Stylists provide braiding services as well as additional licensed cosmetology services, where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Shampoo and condition hair.
- Blow dry and prepare hair.
- Trim hair as permitted by licensure.
- Provide natural hair care services.
- Recommend retail products.
- Maintain detailed client records.
- Promote salon memberships and loyalty programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Illinois Hair Braider License or Illinois Cosmetology License
- One to Two years' work experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of professional braiding experience.
- Experience with luxury client service
- Knowledge of natural hair care and scalp health
- Experience using online booking systems
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
