Job Position Announcement – Public Works Crew Leader

The Village of Gilberts, Illinois is an established suburban community of 8,400 residents located in northern Kane County. The Village is seeking a hardworking and self-motivated Crew Leader to join our Public Works Department. This position is to supervise and participate in Public Works construction, repair, and maintenance. Work involves providing technical skills and leading field operations in the streets, parks, snow plow operations, parkways, and facilities of the Village. It is essential to have great oral and written communications skills in this position along with being able to strive in a team environment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Public Works Director

Minimum Qualifications :

· High School diploma/GED

· The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Public Works maintenance and operations, ideally within the streets/parks division or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and ability.

· Current and valid Illinois drivers-license with a CDL Class B W/Airbrake

· Administrative Competence: Familiar with budgeting, purchasing, inventory control and record keeping.

· Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to understand and deliver oral and written instructions and lead teams effectively under pressure. Ability to communicate with residents and address their concerns.

· Technology & Learning Agility: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and other software tools provided.

Completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen, along with a background check is required.

The expected starting annual salary for this position is ($65,897 - $82,371) DOQ with excellent benefits including vacation time, medical/dental insurance, and IMRF participation. This is a full-time non-exempt position.

Work Schedule : Generally, a Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm schedule, with coverage outside these hours as needed.
