ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Locum Tenens Night Shift Job in Chicago, IL

ICU RN Job Details – Chicago, IL

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Illinois healthcare job)
• Facility: Level 1 Trauma ICU
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Floating: Required within facility and to nearby units (within 50 miles)
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue (not provided)
• Parking: $2/day with shuttle service
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910 - $1960 per week

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Current and active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (COVID-19 exemptions not accepted; medical/religious exemptions for Flu only)
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
• Willingness to float to other units as needed
• Ability to comply with facility RTO and compliance policies

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced trauma ICU setting
• Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced interventions, including ventilator management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and multi-system organ failure
• Perform arterial line management, central line care, and interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias
• Assist with BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous IV sedation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Adhere to strict isolation precautions and proper use of PPE
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other nursing units within scope as required by facility needs
