Established in 1977, Prevail IL is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors (and significant others) through crisis intervention counseling, individual and group counseling, and medical and legal advocacy in Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Southern Clark, Edwards, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland, and Wabash Counties in Illinois. Prevail provides public education and institutional advocacy to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault.
This posting is for the Robinson, IL office counseling position.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual and family counseling and support/empowerment groups for victims/survivors of sexual violence and their significant others.
- Maintain a caseload of counseling clients appropriate to level of employment and program needs.
- Assess/screen individuals to determine the appropriate level of intervention and services.
- Promptly respond to requests for counseling services and maintain intake and referral records.
- Participate in regular supervision, consultation, program, and staff meetings.
- Develop and maintain a network of community members and service providers.
- Identify and participate in community events, forums, and meetings as necessary to maintain the agency’s awareness of issues impacting residents and the visibility of the agency’s services.
- Collaborate with staff and interns from the Prevention & Training, Advocacy, and Counseling departments to enhance the effectiveness of the agency’s services.
- Maintain accurate records for client intake, counseling, non-client crisis intervention, information/referral, and other services/activities.
- Provide crisis intervention counseling in local schools as needed.
- Participates in an on-call staff rotation for the Prevail Illinois 24-hour crisis hotline.
- Serve as backup to medical advocacy as needed.
- Abides by the Prevail Illinois Policies and Procedures and the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault Service Standards.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Counseling Services.
- General business hours with some flexibility for evening appointments/events as necessary
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, School Counseling, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or closely related field required with experience or master’s degree in social work, Clinical Counseling, School Counseling, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or closely related field preferred.
While licensures such as LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LCPC are preferred but not required, we encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

- Previous experience addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence and working with diverse populations (BIPOC, disabled, LGBTQIA+) communities is desired
- Completion of a minimum of 40 hours of sexual assault training by an Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault member center within 60 days of hire is required (and provided by Prevail Illinois); previous completion of the training is strongly preferred
