Set up Mechanic
A Set Up Mechanic (or Set Up Technician) is responsible for installing, assembling, disassembling, and adjusting production machinery to meet specific manufacturing, packaging, or assembly requirements. They perform changeovers, troubleshoot machine malfunctions, and execute preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
Core Responsibilities:
- Machine Set-Up & Changeover: Prepare manufacturing equipment for production runs by installing, removing, and aligning tools, molds, or fixtures according to specifications.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic issues during production, replacing worn or damaged parts to minimize downtime.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., lubricating, cleaning, calibrating) on machines and tools.
- Quality Control: Ensure the first units produced after a changeover meet quality standards, adjusting machine settings as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine adjustments, maintenance tasks, and production logs, often using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work area.
- Tooling Management: Store and manage tools and equipment.
