About Us
Tower Engineering Group (TEG) is a growing civil engineering consulting firm specializing in transportation construction engineering and inspection services for agencies including IDOT, CDOT, and other public sector clients. As our firm continues to expand across Illinois, we're seeking a highly organized Project Operations Coordinator to help support our growing field operations and project management team.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with company leadership, help improve internal systems and processes, and grow into a leadership role as the company continues to expand.
Position Summary
The Project Operations Coordinator serves as the operational hub between our office and field staff. This role is responsible for coordinating approximately eight field engineers and inspectors, supporting project managers, maintaining project tracking systems, and helping ensure projects run smoothly from mobilization through completion.
The position is approximately 90% office-based and 10% field-based , with periodic travel to project sites throughout Illinois (occasionally more during peak construction season).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and assignments for field engineers and inspectors.
- Serve as the primary operations support resource for approximately eight field employees.
- Maintain project tracking tools, schedules, and operational dashboards.
- Support project managers with project coordination and administrative tasks.
- Assist with project mobilization, onboarding, and field logistics.
- Coordinate company vehicles, equipment, and other project resources.
- Review timesheets and assist with invoice preparation and project tracking.
- Visit project sites periodically to support field teams and strengthen communication between the office and project personnel.
- Help develop and improve internal project management systems and operational workflows.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
- Perform other operations and project coordination duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field; OR equivalent professional experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel periodically throughout Illinois.
Preferred
- Experience in civil engineering, construction, transportation, or consulting.
- Familiarity with IDOT, CDOT, or public infrastructure projects.
- Experience with project coordination, scheduling, or operations.
- Experience implementing or improving internal processes and workflows.

Compensation: $28.00–$34.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Expected Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time.
Travel: Approximately 10% (periodic travel throughout Illinois, including occasional overnight stays).
