Kitchen Team Member
Job Overview
Sophie's Cafe is a busy, friendly cafe in Sterling looking for a reliable Cook to join our kitchen. This is an approachable kitchen role - no deep fryers and no grills. You'll cook and assemble our sandwiches and bowls on our Xpress oven, handle daily prep, and help with some light baking. Our team is cross-trained, so you'll also hop on the register during rushes and share in our team tip pool.
Pay: a competitive hourly base plus a share of our tip pool. Cooks typically earn $15-$17 per hour, tips included.
Responsibilities:
Cooking and assembling sandwiches, mac bowls, and salads on the Xpress oven (no fryers or grills)
Light baking and making frostings
Daily prep: portioning cooked chicken, cutting tomatoes and onions, mashing avocado, occasional slicing of ham and turkey
Stocking, restocking, and maintaining inventory
Helping on the register during busy times
Washing dishes and keeping the kitchen clean, sanitary, and organized
Skills:
Multi-tasking and staying organized when it's busy
Keeping a cool, level head during rushes
Good communication and teamwork
Able to be on your feet for 2-3+ hours at a time
Food-safety mindset (ServSafe a plus, not required)
