Turf Applicator Technician

Reports to: Specialty Service Manager

Summary:

The turf applicator technician will analyze turf and ornamental conditions and apply the appropriate materials to solve problems. The applications of materials will be based on a daily schedule to follow.

Job Duties:

Follow the daily schedule of application services

Load fertilizer and chemical product for the day

Plan job in an effective manner to ensure optimum job efficiency and effectiveness

Use and operate tools and equipment used in fertilization and pest control application
Assist with landscape construction and maintenance crews when needed

Complete daily paperwork tracking job time and material usage

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
Comply with all company policies and regulations
Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

Minimum 1-2 years of experience

Plant knowledge and identification primarily turf and weeds

Pest identification primarily insects and disease problems

Basic measurement and calculation skills

Ability to follow safe working procedures

Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail

Good analytical and problem solving skills

Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team

Must possess a valid driver’s license

Work Conditions:

Job requires ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Requires good manual dexterity

Excellent stamina is required

Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
