The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake County IL facility.
What You'll Work On
The Clara Abbott Foundation (CAF) is organized as a 501(c)(3) corporation with a separate Board of Directors and Officers to provide financial assistance to Abbott employees, retirees and their dependents. The Clara Abbott Scholarship Program (CASP) provides financial assistance to the dependents of Abbott employees and retirees, who demonstrate need, to attend a post-secondary school at the undergraduate level. The Financial Assistance Program (FAP) provides financial assistance to employees, retirees, and their dependents for situations leading to financial hardship. The Foundation provides immediate need-based financial assistance to clients who have experienced financial hardship due to a disaster.
The primary function of the regional manager is to provide support to a region of the world and all client requests from that region. If applicable, the regional manager may also manage financial consultants and/or employee staff. This includes managing a budget for their region, participating in the development and budget projections, providing consultation through local consultants during case assessment, reviewing consultant reports, making decisions on cases, evaluating performance of staff (if applicable), conducting case consultation directly with clients when needed and elevating issues or concerns to senior management.
Primary responsibilities include ongoing internal review of all existing CAF programs and implementation of existing CAF program enhancements. Coordinate site visits with CAF staff or local consultants to arrange for these visits with the least disruption to the site's activity.
Case Management

Review all submitted cases to ensure compliance with IRS guidelines, mission of FAP and adherence to policies and procedures.

Work with reviewers and consultants to address case questions.

Work with the case coordinator to review all award or denial letters.

Discuss status and case information with the case coordinator, consultants or Operations Manager (OM).

Work with outside service care providers and case managers to mitigate medical case requests.

Review financial payments in the current processing system.

Work outside of normal business hours to address needs of our global clients.

Ability to review emotionally challenged stories and remain compassionate, objective and non-judgmental regarding the case scenarios.
Personnel Management

Source, staff and manage regional consultants, and coordinators as required.

Conduct annual performance reviews for employee staff who report to RM, if applicable.

Make recommendations on merit budget for direct reports.

Negotiate off-site consultant contracts.

Perform annual evaluation of contract consultant services.

Conduct supervision with consultant and employee staff as needed.

Perform site visits as directed by OM and meet with the consultant.

Set goals and expectations for employee staff.

Assist in developing and planning staff career paths.
Process Efficiency

Work with the consultants and employees to manage caseload.

Evaluate the workload of the consultants and employees.

Make recommendations on the allocation of staff and resources.
Program Development
-
Develop short and long term strategies to improve program offerings and the FAP consulting process in conjunction with OM.

Perform other projects and activities as directed by OM.
Status Reporting
-
Review, evaluate and present monthly tracking and trending reports

Process billing from external vendors/consultants, verifying material submitted for payment
Disaster Response/ Preparedness

Work with OM to support the needed response to disaster site as needed.
Financial Responsibility

Manage annual distributions and spending for FAP.

Manage approximately 1,000 case requests a year.
Problem Solving:

Must be able to analyze problems, investigate alternatives, and determine the benefits/costs (both dollar and other) for alternatives.

When presenting the problem and solutions, must be able to explain the situation and solutions in a concise, complete manner.

Good analytical skills are required to solve problems that require some "abstract" thinking to effectively evaluate computer problems or program concerns.

Excellent people skills are needed to manage staff, consultants and clients during difficult situations
Decision Making:
-
Approve FAP awards up to $1,000 and make recommendations on cases greater than $1,000.

Make decisions on case discrepancies or unresolved consultant issues.

Make recommendations on program development based on assessment of cultural differences and site-specific needs.

Make recommendations on the allocation of staff and resources.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 7 years of experience
Fluent in Spanish

The base pay for this position is $99,300.00 - $198,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
