Position Overview

The Division of Family and Community Services (DFCS) is seeking to hire a Training and Support Services Specialist in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Bureau of Training, Support Services, Operations, and Strategic Planning (BTSSOSP). This position provides support to DFCS’ Program Offices by planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring program staff training and development. Strong technical skills with Microsoft 365 Office Suite applications to include Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive or other special software are needed to conduct research, complete data input and analyses of best practices for managing employees, and effective tools to assess training opportunities; This position will also control and execute multiple special projects and serve as liaison with other Department of Human Services (DHS) components to disseminate information on trainings.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the Bureau of Training and Support Services Specialist.
  • Conducts research and analysis of best practices of managing employees and effective tools to assess successes and challenges.
  • Serves as liaison with the DHS Training Components (e.g., Office of Learning and Training Development, Health and Family Services, and Department of Revenue) to disseminate information on trainings.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

  • Of the one (1) year of requires experience, requires one (1) year of professional experience developing reports, surveys, evaluations, presentations and accessible web-based training, remote learning capabilities, and on-line training for various audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of professional experience developing reports, surveys, evaluations, presentations and accessible web-based training, remote learning capabilities, and on-line training for various audiences.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking various administrative special projects and assignments as it relates to training and support services.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience conducting data input and analysis, utilizing computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft 365 Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Webex, Word), or similar special software, in the development of learning curriculum, coordination and implementation of projects, and evaluation of employee development training and training programs.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience researching and implementing options and updates for training formats including technology, accommodations, web-based training, remote learning etc. to ensure availability, learning capabilities and accessibility of training for audiences.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in researching and reviewing program concerns and reports such as audit findings, quality assurance reviews, case management reports, and federal and state outcome measures to develop and implement targeted program specific training to support a public or private organizations goals and objectives.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing Federal and State requirements in the development of employment training.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
