Salary: $110,000–$140,000/year

Role Summary: Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Process Engineer for a direct hire opportunity supporting a plastics manufacturing facility in Elk Grove Village, IL. This position is responsible for leading blow molding operations, optimizing manufacturing processes, reducing scrap, improving cycle times, and mentoring process technicians.

Blow molding and plastics manufacturing experience is an absolute requirement. Candidates without direct extrusion blow molding experience will not be considered.

️ Qualifications & Skills: Required:

• 3–5+ years of extrusion blow molding experience (required)
• strong background in plastics manufacturing
• Experience troubleshooting:
  • Blow molding equipment
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Electrical systems
• Experience optimizing molding processes and reducing production downtime
• Leadership or mentoring experience with Process Technicians
• strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred:

• Injection molding or profile extrusion experience
• Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
• Process validation experience
• Mold maintenance and tooling knowledge
• ERP system experience
• bilingual English/Spanish
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Manufacturing environment with plastics processing equipment
• Frequent standing and walking throughout the production floor
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb and work around production machinery safely
• Exposure to non-climate-controlled and high-noise manufacturing environments
• Required use of PPE

Responsibilities

• Lead daily extrusion blow molding operations to maximize safety, quality, and production efficiency
• Troubleshoot molding processes, machines, and product quality issues
• Develop, document, and maintain standardized molding process parameters
• Optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve material utilization
• Lead process improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
• Support machine startups, shutdowns, process validations, and changeovers
• Monitor production metrics including weight, flash, wall thickness, and scrap rates
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve production issues
• Train, mentor, and support Process Technicians to improve technical capabilities
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, PPE requirements, and manufacturing procedures
• Support mold optimization and continuous process improvements

The essential functions of this role include:
