Job Title: MIG Welder
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience welding on mild carbon steel in various positions and will be responsible for both welding and material handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Weld on mild carbon steel (7-14 gauge, mainly 12 gauge) in horizontal, vertical, and circular positions.
• Use grinders and other hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.
• Occasionally read blueprints to guide welding tasks.
• Use a hand cart to pull materials needed for orders.
• Complete projects within the allotted target time, which can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on experience and product.
• Lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
• Operate a hydraulic welding table.
• Spend 90% of the workday performing MIG welding and the remaining 10% on material transportation and using hand tools.

• Proficiency in MIG welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Experience in welding in vertical, horizontal, and circular positions.
• Capability to lift up to 75 pounds.

• 1-2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of 40 welding booths equipped with hydraulic tables, along with fabrication machinery such as presses, saws, and conveyors. The setting is a heavy industrial environment that is not well-lit and can be dirty. Employees work independently in their own welding booths but interact with team leads and supervisors throughout the day. Personal protective equipment, including steel toe boots, eye protection, hoods, gloves, and sleeves, is required and provided. The workforce is non-union, and approximately 65% of employees are Spanish-speaking.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of University Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
