Parks Maintenance Laborer - Weekend

The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (13,463 – 2020 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and manufacturing areas. The Village is seeking an individual to serve as a Public Works Weekend Laborer. Work involves performance of a variety of tasks which includes maintenance, repair, and upkeep of municipal parks, public grounds, recreational facilities, and open spaces. This position is essential to ensuring that public spaces are safe, clean, and enjoyable for residents and visitors. Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated. Work includes the operation of motorized equipment and requires heavy physical labor. The position is subject to being available for on-call duty for emergencies, as determined by the Director of Public Works, which requires availability at any hour or day.

This position also has adjusted working hours during the months listed below.

Beginning the second Wednesday in March and ending the Sunday before Thanksgiving

• The work week is Wednesday through Sunday, with Mondays and Tuesdays as off-days.

The time outside of these dates

• The position works a normal Monday through Friday work schedule.

The candidate’s education shall include a high school diploma and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL B within six months of the candidate’s hire date.Current possession of an Illinois Class B CDL license is strongly preferred.Experience in Public Works operations preferred. The hourly range for this position is $24.73 to $35.01. This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, union position.
