Marklund is seeking a highly motivated and mission-centered individual for the position of Director of Nursing (DON). This position is based out of the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, IL (formerly named Little Angels) The salary range for this position is $90,000- $95,000 based on experience and qualifications. The hours for this position are Monday- Friday 8a-4p with flexibility and on-call rotation.
Who We Are:
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With three residential locations – the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community.

Director of Nursing (DON) Summary of Duties:
Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.
Participates in all admission decisions, and may visit prospective residents before admission.
Participates in management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or complaints or concerns. In addition, participates as a member of Marklund’s Leadership Team.
Responsible for hiring nurses
Oversees and evaluates the work performance of nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies.
Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and apparent maintenance of optimal resident functions.
Collaborates with physicians and consultants to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
Coordinates nursing services with all other departments.

Experience and Skills
Director of Nursing (DON) Qualifications:
Current Licensed Registered Nurse (required). May also consider a LPN license for a strong candidate.
1 or more years of experience as a DON preferred
Knowledge of IDPA, IDPH, DHS, public health survey process/regulations, Medicaid and ICF/DD residential care facilities and CARF preferred
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements
