The opportunity: You will play a crucial role on the R&D team and gain hands-on experience in the development of bakery products from concept to commercialization. You will work closely with production teams to enhance product quality and explore new concepts, contributing to both ongoing and new projects.

What you will do: The R&D Technician is adept in product formulation, extremely organized, and responsive to customers. Major responsibilities include:

• Conduct lab-scale experiments to test new ingredients, formulas, and baking methods to optimize new and existing bakery products, including cakes, muffins, cookies and fruit fillings
• Assist in preparation of samples for customers, maintaining lab equipment and organizing supplies
• Participate in sensory evaluations to assess product taste, texture, and appearance
• Assist in documenting experiment results
• Help troubleshoot product issues and suggest process improvements
• Ensure laboratory coolers and freezers are cleaned and sanitized at least once per month
• Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols during product development
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in the lab and production environments.
• Collaborate with other departments such as quality control, production and procurement to ensure successful product launches

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Baking Science, Culinary Arts or a related field.
• Have baking experience, passion for food innovation and food trends
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, ability to manage multiple tasks and good communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques is a plus.
