• Job Title: Locum Tenens Registered Nurse – Acute Care (Travel RN)
• Location: Peoria, Illinois 61637 (Illinois nursing jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Unit (Short Stay Unit & Discharge Hospitality Center)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week (orientation hours not included)
• Unit Size: 13 beds (expanding to 23 beds)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
• Floating: May float to other General Medical units as needed
• Dress Code: Professional scrubs (adult unit only)
• Orientation: 1st day Epic EMR training & HealthStream, plus two 12-hour precepted shifts

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (Registered Nurse – Illinois)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Proven competency in general medical and acute care nursing
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care for patients ages 16 through adult
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
• Willingness to float to other hospital units as needed
• Negative drug screen required

RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Acute Care Unit, including admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for assigned patients
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on self-care and home care procedures
• Float to General Medical units as required by hospital staffing needs
• Maintain strict standards of quality assurance, infection control, and patient safety
• Provide compassionate support and effective communication to patients and their families
